COUNTING THE OMER - WEEK 5

COUNTING THE OMER – 50 DAYS OF MEDITATIONS AND PRAYER

WEEK 5

May 14 – Iyar 13 – Omer 28     The Spirit and the Word

Week 5 Day 1

“When the Word and the Spirit come together, there will be the biggest movement of the Holy Spirit that the nation, and indeed the world, has ever seen. It will mark the beginning of a revival that will eclipse anything that has been witnessed within these shores, even the Wesleyan and the Welsh revivals of former years.

The outpouring of God’s Spirit will flow over from the UK to the mainland of Europe, and from there will begin a missionary move to the ends of the earth.”  Smith Wigglesworth 1947

God’s Word and Holy Spirit are inseparable. God’s words “are spirit, and they are life” John 6:63

Throughout Scripture we see Holy Spirit’s role in authorship of God’s Word.

They made their hearts diamond-hard lest they should hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts had sent by his Spirit through the former prophets. Zechariah 7:12

Jesus also said that David spoke by the Holy Spirit in Psalm 110.

They disagreed among themselves and they began to leave after Paul had made one last statement: “The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers, . . . Acts 28:25

Hebrews 10:15 quotes Jeremiah…

The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says: “This is the covenant I will make with them

after those days, declares the Lord.  I will put My laws in their hearts

and inscribe them on their minds.” Then He adds:

“Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

Jesus not only promised that Holy Spirit will remind them of what was said in the past, but that the Spirit will also tell them of that to come.

But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth [full and complete truth]. For He will not speak on His own initiative, but He will speak whatever He hears [from the Father—the message regarding the Son], and He will disclose to you what is to come [in the future].

May 15 – Iyar 14 – Omer 29      Spirit and Word Transformation

Week 5 Day 2

Our thoughts create super highways in our brain according to Donald Miller, American author and CEO of StoryBrand, and it is difficult to go a different route of thinking than what we are accustomed. This is what renewing your mind is all about; starting new neural pathways that align with the Word and follow the Spirit.

God’s Words are living and active by Holy Spirit (Hebrews 4:12).  The Word of God can penetrate to the depths of our souls that He might transform our mind.

So, the next time an untrue thought heads down the super highway in your mind, bring it to a dead end and begin again.  Create a new foot path for the truth and begin to transform your mind one thought at a time.

  • When you become full of hope, what seemed impossible becomes reasonable.
  • When you live in peace and worrisome speculation becomes a thing of the past.
  • When you find yourself rejoicing in your weakness, and understanding God is your strength.
  • When the issues of the day are less heavy because you can know the thoughts of God on the matter.
  • When your confidence level is elevated, and you grow in gratitude; this is when you know you are fostering a transformed mind.

Consume the Word, listen to the Spirit; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Ephesians 4:23

May 16 – Iyar 15 – Omer 30      Three Conditions of the Heart

Week 5 Day 3

The Cold Heart – Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.  But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:12

The Lukewarm heart – So because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to vomit you out of My mouth! Revelation 2:16

The Burning Heart- They asked each other, Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”  And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. Luke 24:32,33

Does your heart burn when you hear His voice?

May 17 – Iyar 16 – Omer 31    Intimacy and power

Week 5 Day 4

God desires us to seek intimacy with Him and to seek the power of His hand.

John 15 says being a person of the Spirit involves knowing Him and fellowshipping with the Spirit of Christ.

Knowing Him comes from the Word and the Spirit.

The Spirit wants to anoint our hearts in love, love so deep we recognize the still small voice of 1Kings 19:12.

And then, He desires to anoint our hands in power.

The ability to function in power comes in part by discerning what the Spirit is doing. John 5:19.

We know because we have devoured His Word.

Demonstrations of the Spirit of Power often follow the declaration of God’s Word.

Devour and Declare God’s Word today and walk in His Power.

May 18 – Iyar 17 – Omer 32    What you really believe

Week 5 Day 5

We are able to live “in” or “by” the Spirit because we have been fed spiritual food, which is the Word of the Lord.

Deep conversations with the Spirit, and our ability to discern what the Spirit is revealing comes from time spent with the Lord.

As the voice of the Spirit and the Word increases in our lives, a more active, more frequent dialogue with God develops.  This in turn helps to solidify your “high values” and your “core values.”

Kris Vallotton relates that “high values” are truths you hold to; “I am in covenant with God and He protects what is His.”

Your “core value” is the ability to live out the truth or “high value” when a difficulty arises.

“My car cannot be repaired, I need a new car, but how can I afford a new car?”– God will provide because I am His and He takes care of what is His.

Do your “core values” hold to your “high values”?

May 19 – Iyar 18 – Omer 33   Mysteries of God

Week 5 Day 6

Only the Spirit knows the deep things of God. He knows the mysteries of the Father and the Son.

The Spirit has known God’s intentions from the foundations of the earth. He knows and understands the mysterious workings in the world. He does the Father’s bidding in ways we will never see.

The Spirit knows the details of God.

Without Holy Spirit there is no way we would know the thoughts of God.

He is the Spirit of truth who declares God’s thoughts to us.

For God has unveiled them and revealed them to us through the [Holy] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things [diligently], even [sounding and measuring] the [profound] depths of God [the divine counsels and things far beyond human understanding].
1 Corinthians 2:10

God is Omniscient and Wisdom. He has a mystery ready to be revealed to you today, ask Holy Spirit to open your heart and heighten your senses to receive and ask God what He has to share with you.

Solomon said, “It is to the glory of God to conceal a matter, but to the glory of kings to search out a matter.”

This is your invitation to “search out a matter today” with the Spirit and the Word.

Remember, revelation isn’t always some new thought or idea for the world.

Sometimes it is a deeper understanding or a new perspective for us personally.

May 20 – Iyar 19 – Omer 34   Spirit and Word in Worship

Week 5 Day 7

God is not an egomaniac, who demands worship. He loves our worship because He inhabits our praises. He created us to worship to be in His presence.

“when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth,

for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”

John 4:23

True worship must be “in spirit,” that is, engaging the whole being.

“And he replied, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
Luke 10:27

Unless we have accurate knowledge of the God we worship, there is no worship in truth.

The more we know about God, the more we appreciate Him. The more we appreciate, the deeper our worship. The deeper our worship, the more God is glorified.

Knowledge of the Lord comes from the Word, logos or Rhema.

Devour the Word and then speak/sing it back to God filling your atmosphere. String Scriptures together; worship Him with all your being.

Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together.  Psalm 34:3

As for God, His way is perfect! The Word of the Lord is tested and tried… Psalm 18:30

Your Word has revived me and given me life.  Palms 119:50

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.  Psalm 119:105

The sum of Your Word is truth and every one of your righteous decrees endures forever. Psalm 119:160

In Your testimonies are my delight and my counselors.  Psalm 119:24

Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.  So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. Psalm 63:3,4

My mouth shall be filled with Your praise and with Your honor all the day.  Psalm 71:8

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.   Psalm 9:1,2 NKJ

I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name for Your loving kindness and for Your truth and faithfulness; for You have exalted above all else Your name and Your Word, and You have magnified Your Word above all Your name!  Ps. 138:2

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.  Set a guard O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.  Do not incline my heart to any evil thing.  Ps. 141:2-4

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my firm impenetrable Rock and my Redeemer.  Ps 19:14

And I shall love the Lord My God with all my heart and all my soul and all my spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4)

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:25)

Blessings,
