COUNTING THE OMER

COUNTING THE OMER – 50 DAYS OF MEDITATIONS AND PRAYER

LIVING OUT OF COVENANT

There are 50 days that link Passover to Shavuot, or The Crucifixion to Pentecost.

Shavuot is the giving of the Word and Pentecost is the Giving of the Spirit; the Word and Spirit

God tells us to mark these days as “Counting the Omer. Leviticus 23:15

Invite the Holy Spirit to come and teach you on each of the 50 days.

Week 1 and 2

April 17 – Nisan 16 – Omer 1

Jeremiah 31:31 NASB

The New Covenant

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the LORD.  “For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the LORD: “I will put My law within them and write it on their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.  They will not teach again, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD, “for I will forgive their wrongdoing, and their sin I will no longer remember.”

Consider how He has written His Law on your heart.

Consider what it means to you when He says, “they will know Me.”

Consider how He no longer remembers your missteps, and does not define us by anything other than what He created us to be.

April 18 – Nisan 17 – Omer 2

Matthew 26:28 AMP

“for this is My blood of the [new and better] covenant, which [ratifies the agreement and] is being poured out for many [as a substitutionary atonement] for the forgiveness of sins.”

The initiation of the New Covenant was Nisan 14 at the Passover Supper, Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.”

Take Communion today, meditate on your act of acceptance of the Covenant, and the substitutionary atonement that makes it possible.

April 19 – Nisan 18 – Omer 3

Hebrews 8:6,7 BSB

“But as it is, Christ has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is more excellent [than the old Levitical priestly ministry], for He is the Mediator (Arbiter) of a better covenant [uniting God and man], which has been enacted and rests on better promises.”

What makes it better is that it is founded on Jesus.

Hebrews 7:22 BSB “Because of this (His) oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.”

(Parenthesis mine)

Through Jesus, God’s Son, the Covenant becomes established, that in Him it will always be the same, protected, activated, and eternal through Him.

Jesus is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Hebrews 13:8

We can trust Jesus in all things.

April 20 – Nisan 19 – Omer 4

Ephesians 2:12, 13 BSB

“remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.”

We are no longer far away from God by our sin.  We are cleansed, redeemed made new creatures in Christ. The Blood of Christ, the New Covenant has brought us near.

Practice recognizing God in you, for you are the Temple of God. 1Corinthians3:16

April 21 – Nisan 20 – Omer 5

Ephesians 1:3 BSB

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.  For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One.”

Blessings in this verse means to “speak well of.”  God is speaking good things about you.

Here are a few of the spiritual blessing God has spoken to you.

  • He chose you – the election of saints – before the foundation of the earth
  • He has chosen you as His adopted child- “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:12
  • He ransomed you from death
  • You are blessed with knowing the mystery of His will. (Ephesians 1)
  • He has given you an inheritance. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
  • He blessed you by sealing you in the Holy Spirit.  The Gift of the Father, Holy Spirit giver of life.  The Incarnate Son is your Life (John 14:6; 1 John 1:2)

April 22 – Nisan 21 – Omer 6

James 4:8 AMP

Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you.

Why draw near?

  • First and foremost, because God comes close to us.
  • We learn to humble ourselves before God.
  • We learn His voice, His ways.
  • We learn reality. (1Corinthians 2:14,
  • We learn our identity (Acts 17:28)
  • We learn our purpose (Colossians 1:16)
  • We bear fruit (Psalm 128:1)
  • We gain strength (Philippians 4:13)
  • We receive prosperity in every area of our life. (Job 22:21)
  • Our hope is in God (Psalm 62:5)
  • We receive solutions for problems
  • We achieve success (Joshua 1:8,9)

April 23 – Nisan 22 – Omer 7

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Our lives are no longer worldly; they are now spiritual.

Our past is buried with Him, all that we once were, did, acted on, is gone, nailed to the Cross.

We are created by God, created entirely fresh and unique, looking outwardly to Christ for all things.

There are new feelings toward all people—a new kind of love toward family and friends, a new compassion never before felt for enemies, and a new love for all mankind. The things we once loved, we now detest.

Take a spiritual inventory of your progress since becoming a new Creation in Christ.

April 24 Nisan – Nisan 23 – Omer 8

1Corinthians 15:45

“So it is written [in Scripture], “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL (an individual);” the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving spirit [restoring the dead to life].”

Adam is called “The Son of God” (Luke 3:38) because he was specially created to be like the Son of God, enjoying the Father’s love in daily communion, but stopped imaging God when He listened to the Serpents lies.

Ask God if there is a place in your soul where you have listened to the serpents lies that needs cleansed and healed.

April 25 – Nisan 24 – Omer 9

1Corithians 15:20-23 “But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.  For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.  But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming…”

One of the greatest blessings of the New Covenant is that He builds us into a habitation for His Spirit to dwell with in us.  When we entered the Covenant with Christ He breathed His Holy Spirit in us and we became alive in Him.

Check with God, is your Temple structurally sound?

Are there things in your life that do not please Him?

Ask Holy Spirit to renew your mind to be like Christ.

Ask Holy Spirit to give you power to live like Jesus.

April 26 – Nisan 25 – Omer 10

Hebrews 7:10 “for Levi was still in the loins (unborn) of his forefather [Abraham] when Melchizedek met him (Abraham).”

On the fourth day of Creation God created seed bearing plants, fruits of various kinds.  Each plant carried the seed of its own kind.

When Jesus was raised from the dead He became the First Fruit of the new Creation.  First fruits bear many seeds according to their kind. When we came to believe in Him and joined Covenant with Him we received His Seed.  The Word of God, Jesus, created you as a new creation through the First Fruit of Christ; produced by His Seed you were re-generated.

He imputed all that He is to you.

Think about all that Christ is. List it out.

Now review all He has imputed (credited, ascribed) to you.

April 27 – Nisan 26 – Omer 11

Ephesian 1:17 AMP (parenthesis mine)

“may (God) grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].”

Want to understand who you were created to be?

In knowing the Father and Jesus we can get to know our true identity.

One time when I was asking to see Jesus, His face appeared in the room.  He was larger than life and came to me from across the room. I remember looking at his nose as He came nose to nose with me and then suddenly I saw myself in the pupil of His eye and He said, “you can find yourself by looking at Me.”

What we behold we become. Seek His face and discover another part of who you are in Him.

April 28 – Nisan 23 – Omer 12

1 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

Are you thinking, why is it I still have hurts and hang ups or can’t get my breakthrough?

Maybe your good soil needs enriched?

Don’t be discouraged and don’t ask God to take them away.

Ask Him what you need to do to be an overcomer?

There is a difference between “what do I need to do to make this go away” and “who do I need to become to overcome.”

April 29 – Nisan 23 – Omer 13

Colossians 3:1 AMP “Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”

This is characteristic is described fully in Philippians 3:12- 16, bringing the spiritual life into this world.

Take some time and reflect on it.

AMP “Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own.  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  All of us who are mature [pursuing spiritual perfection] should have this attitude. And if in any respect you have a different attitude, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us stay true to what we have already attained.”

April 30 – Nisan 24 – Omer 14

Ephesians 2:6 AMP

“And He raised us up together with Him [when we believed], and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, [because we are] in Christ Jesus…”

The “when we believed,” wasn’t just for coming to Christ, it is today “when we believe” we can work out of the remaining Scripture.

Ask God to cleanse your imagination. Allow Him to show you what it is to be raised up together with Him and seated in heavenly places.

Blessings,
